Welcome producers, to the first ever "Strictly Bass Music" Production Competition!
Not Strictly Dubstep, along with Image-Line, Native-Instruments, and Black Octopus Sound bring you this great, open genre production competition, with over $300 in prizes!
Do you love to create Bass Music of all styles? Then this competition is for you!
We have 3 great prizes lined up-
1) A full copy of FL Studio

3) Siren By Veela and Monster Kicks sound packs!
These great prizes have been donated by our sponsors, and will be provided in fully licensed, digital download format as prizes for the winners.
Winners will also be featured on our first free digital release, which will include tracks from the various underground artists that support Not Strictly Dubstep!
How's it work?
Good Question!
First you'll have to Register on the site. Once registered, you'll be able to access the download of the provided vocal samples. These vocals (Provided by Veela and Toby Emerson of Black Octopus Sound) are yours to do with what you please, click here to listen to the samples, or you can Listen to the promo for the vocal pack. You can chop, slice, dice, rip them apart, or leave them in tact; the main point is that some or all of each vocal clip offered must be used.
Now that you have your samples, you're ready to get to work! Think of this competition as a chance for you to step outside your comfort zone, and try something new! Since it's open genre, we are welcoming all styles of Bass Heavy EDM. SO, pick your poison well! (Be it Dubstep, Drum and Bass, Trap, House, jungle, Glitch Hop, ect.) Whatever you choose, bring your A game!
The competition will run until October 1st, so you'll have ample time to produce something amazing! Once you're finished, you simply upload your song (as a 320 MP3) to Soundcloud (Make sure downloads are DISABLED or you'll be disqualified!), then just fill out the form below, and include the direct link to your soundcloud track in the form. Only ONE submission per user will be allowed;
SO MAKE SURE THE TRACK YOU UPLOAD IS YOUR FINAL VERSION!
Ive received several questions about what to name your track, Since this isn't officially a "Remix", You're welcome to name it whatever you want. Winning tracks will have (Ft. Veela) added to the name, if it's not already included. Feel free to be as creative as you'd like in the naming of your track!
What are we judged on?

We will be judging each track on a number of things:
1) Quality - As a music producer, you should know your sound well! the quality of a mix, in an unmastered track, is very important! We don't expect you to fully master your own track (This will be done later for the winning tracks) But a clean mix, and adequate space for each sound is necessary. This will be a major judging point, so beware of muddy or murky sound quality in your track!
2) Creativity & Originality - Creativity and unique style is what sets a producer ahead of the rest. Here at Not Strictly Dubstep, we really appreciate originality, and a fun, creative, original sound/style will definitely speak to us! This doesn't mean that you can't make a standard tune, you'll be fairly judged no matter what you create, but it does give you an upper edge to have a unique sound!
3) BASS! - Let's keep it real, the competition is called the "Strictly Bass Music" Comp. So if you don't have some nice bass, you'll be falling short! This doesn't mean "BRING THE BASS SO HARD THE SPEAKERS CRACK" (Although that's not frowned upon, as long as it's EQ'd properly!), it means, Bring quality bass, to a quality tune!
4) Sample Use - As mentioned above, You don't have to use each sample in it's entire form. You're welcome to use as much or as little of each sample provided as you would like, but you MUST use at least a portion of EACH sample provided in your tune. It doesn't have to be the focal point of the song, but it does have to be present. This is a major opportunity to show your originality, utilizing the vocals in odd ways can definitely add a plus in the judges eyes :)
How will the winners be chosen?
Ahhh, the real question!
You'll be judged by a panel of fellow Producers/DJs, all of whom have been in the EDM scene for many years. We will rigorously listen to each track over and over and over again until our ears bleed, to really get a feel for each producer, and their strengths. Judging will be given approximately 2 weeks, at which point we will select the Three most appealing tracks. From those, we'll decide who receives First, Second and Third place.
Since the Prizes vary in style, prizes will be decided by the winners themselves-- First place will choose what they want as a prize, Second place will choose from the remaining two prizes, and Third place will receive the unclaimed prize. Considering each prize is valuable beyond it's sticker price, we feel this is a good way to make sure everyone has the opportunity to be pleased with what they receive.
